The idea for Hidden Gems Inc. was formed when I went to Nicosia, Cyprus to visit my close friend, Sonia Papadopoulou, who I met through collegiate basketball here in the States.  Over there, I went to the Turkish Cypriot side of Cyprus. During my travels I met a family who had a daughter who was a fast swimmer. I told them they should look into her going to college in the States on a scholarship. Upon speaking with this family was when my idea evolved; to start a business just to get information out for athletes and their parents while I run sports camps and form teams all over the world!

Upon my return to home, I enrolled in college for a Master's in Chemistry. That same year I was an assistant coach at Saint Francis College. That was when my idea was developed some more. A conversation was going on with my colleagues and I pertaining to recruiting and the need for more reliable organizations. Reliable, meaning that player's information is handed to the coaches in a timely fashion and courtesy being displayed at all time. I told my colleagues that I wanted to run international and domestic camps. Two things were in my favor with implementing these camps; the love of traveling and meeting new people. In 2005, I incorporated Hidden Gems, Inc.

A couple  of goals will be to facilitate the recruiting process for athletes and coaches, have beginners' camps, and in both do sessions dealing with athletes' desires/ambitions.

This current year (2008) I have evolved because I did not want to do only basketball.

My interest is not in the popular sports but in the sports that do not have a big following amongst our inner city girls. The sports that falls in this category are lacrosse, field hockey, golf, archery and boxing. Plus many more. These sports give scholarship opportunities to colleges!
